HomeMy WebLinkAbout15442 ORD - 03/26/1980AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE CETA TITLE II -D CONTRACT MODIFICATIONS WITH CALALLEN INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT, FLOUR BLUFF INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT, LULAC EDUCATIONAL SERVICE CENTER, NUECES COUNTY COMMUNITY ACTION AGENCY, AND WEST OSO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT, TO CON- TINUE 26 PUBLIC SERVICE EMPLOYMENT JOBS AND TO CHANGE THE CONTRACT PERIOD FROM OCTOBER 1, 1979 THROUGH MARCH 31, 1980, TO OCTOBER 1, 1979 .THROUGH SEPTEMBER 30, 1980, AS .. MORE FULLY SET FORTH IN THE CONTRACT MODIFICATIONS, SUB- STANTIAL COPIES OF WHICH ARE ATTACHED. HERETO AND MADE A PART HEREOF, MARKED EXHIBITS "A", "B", "C",."0" AND "E"; ' AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ALL RELATED AND NECESSARY DOCUMENTS TO MODIFY THE AFORESAID CONTRACTS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be authorized to execute CETA Title II -D Contract modifications with the following: 1. Calallen Independent School District, 2. Flour Bluff Independent School District, 3. Lulac Educational Service Center, 4. Nueces County Community Action Agency, and 5. West Oso Independent School District, to continue 26 public'service employment jobs and to change the contract period from October 1, 1979 through March 31, 1980, to October 1, 1979, through September 30, 1980, all as more fully set forth in the contract modifications, substantial copies of which are attached hereto and made a part hereof, marked Exhibits "A", "B", "C", "D" and "E", respectively. SECTION 2. That the City Manager be authorized to execute all related and necessary.documents to modify the aforesaid contracts. SECTION 3. THe necessity to authorize execution of the aforesaid contract modifications and all related and necessary documents at the earliest practicable date in order to continue the CETA Employment and Training Program creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on.the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Major having declared that such emergency and necessity exist, and having requested 15442 the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the 26th day of March, 1980.
