AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE CETA TITLE VI CONTRACT
MODIFICATIONS WITH CORPUS CHRISTI INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT,
CORPUS CHRISTI STATE SCHOOL, AND JAPANESE ART MUSEUM, TO CON-
TINUE 63 PUBLIC SERVICE EMPLOYMENT JOBS AND TO CHANGE THE
CONTRACT PERIOD FROM OCTOBER 1., 1979 THROUGH MARCH 31, 1980
TO OCTOBER 1, 1979 THROUGH SEPTEMBER 30, 1980, AS MORE FULLY
SET FORTH IN THE CONTRACT MODIFICATIONS, SUBSTANTIAL COPIES
OF WHICH ARE ATTACHED HERETO AND MADE A PART HEREOF, MARKED
EXHIBITS "A", "B" & "C";AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXE-
CUTE ALL RELATED AND NECESSARY DOCUMENTS TO MODIFY THE AFORE-
SAID CONTRACTS;AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:

SECTION 1. That the City Manager be authorized to execute CETA Title
VI contract modifications with Corpus Christi Independent School District, Corpus
Christi State School and Japanese Art Museum, to continue 63 public service em-
ployment jobs and to change the contract period from October 1, 1979 through
March 31, 1980, to October 1, 1979 through September 30, 1980, as more fully
set forth in the contract modifications, substantial copies of which are attached
hereto and made a part hereof, marked Exhibits "A", "8" and "C", respectively.
SECTION 2. That the City Manager be authorized to execute all related
and necessary documents to modify the aforesaid contracts.
SECTION 3. The necessity to authorize execution of the aforesaid
contract modifications and such other related and necessary documents as may be
necessary to continue the aforesaid CETA program creates a public emergency and
an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that
no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduc-
tion but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings
of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such emergency and necessity
exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordi-
nance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be
in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED,
this the 26th day of March, 1980.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance, a
public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter
rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on
the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read
at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, request that you suspend
said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally,on the date it
is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
