HomeMy WebLinkAbout15448 ORD - 04/02/1980• vp:4/2/80;1stt, AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE DIVISION FOR CONTINUATION OF THE NUECES COUNTY ORGANIZED CRIME CONTROL UNIT FOR THE PERIOD MARCH 1, 1981 THROUGH FEBRUARY 28, 1982; AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF ALL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY TO CONTINUE THE PROGRAM IF THE GRANT IS APPROVED; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That authorization is hereby given for submission of a grant application to the Criminal Justice Division for continuation of the Nueces County Organized Crime Control Unit for the period March 1, 1981 through February 28, 1982 and authorizing execution of all documents neces- sary to continue the program if the grant is approved. SECTION 2. The necessity to authorize submission of a grant application and execution of documents necessary to implement the grant, all as more fully set forth hereinabove, creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its intro- duction, but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such emer- gency and necessity exist, and having requested that said Charter rule be suspended, and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the 2 day of April, 1980.
