HomeMy WebLinkAbout15456 ORD - 04/02/1980• jkh:4-2-80;lst AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE I, UTILITIES, SECTION 55-5, CITY TRANSIT SYSTEM - FARES, OF THE CORPUS CHRISTI CITY CODE, 1976 REVISION, BY ADDING A NEW PARAGRAPH 55-5 (A)(12) TO PROVIDE FOR FARE EXEMPTION FOR PROMOTION OF AQUATICS WITHIN THE CITY FROM MAY 1 THROUGH LABOR DAY OF EACH YEAR FOR CHILDREN SEVEN- TEEN YEARS OLD AND YOUNGER WHO ARE ENROUTE TO OR RETURNING FROM A CITY POOL, EITHER DRESSED IN SWIMMING ATTIRE OR WHO HAVE A SWIM SUIT IN HAND; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Article I of Chapter 55, UTILITIES, of the Corpus Christi City Code, 1976 Revision, as amended, be amended by amending Section 55-5 by adding paragraph.(12) to subsection (a), said paragraph to hereafter read as follows: (12) A fares exemption will be provided for the purpose of promoting aquatics within the City from May 1 through Labor Day of each year for children seventeen years and younger, who are enroute to or returning from a City pool, either dressed in swimming attire or who have a swim suit in hand. SECTION 2. Publication shall be made one time by publishing the caption of this ordinance, stating in substance the purpose thereof, in/the official publication of the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 3. The necessity to amend the City Code as hereinabove set forth at the earliest practicable date creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such emergency and necessity exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of 1_5456 e 4 • its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the24 day of April, 1980.
