AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE DOCUMENTS
NECESSARY FOR THE ACQUISITION OF PARCEL 90, BLOCK
96, BEACH PORTION, AT THE UPDATED VALUE, ALL IN
CONNECTION WITH THE BAYFRONT SCIENCE PARK PROJECT,
NO. 209-76-1.3; APPROPRIATING OUT OF THE NO. 209
COMMUNITY CONVENTION FACILITY BOND FUND THE SUM
OF $71,546, OF WHICH $71,000 IS FOR ACQUISITION
AND $546 IS FOR INCIDENTAL COSTS RELATED TO
CLOSING, TO SUPPLEMENT FUNDS PREVIOUSLY APPROPRI-
ATED BY ORDINANCE NO. 14608, PASSED AND APPROVED
ON NOVEMBER 8, 1978; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized
to execute documents necessary for the acquisition of Parcel 90, Block 96,
Beach Portion, an addition to the City of Corpus Christi, Nueces County,
Texas, at the updated value, from Joe Dreis, said parcel being more parti-
cularly described as follows:
Lots One (1), Two (2), and Three (3), Fractional
Lots Eleven (11), and Twelve (12), lying east of
the right-of-way of the San Antonio and Aransas
Pass Railroad, all in Block Ninety -Six (96) of
the Beach Portion of the City of Corpus Christi,
Nueces County, Texas, according to the map there-
of, recorded in Volume A, Page 3, Map Records of
Nueces County, Texas, including all improvements.
SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated out of the No. 209
Community Convention Facility Bond Fund the sum of $71,546, of which $71,000
is for acquisition and $546 is for incidental costs related to closing, to
supplement funds previously appropriated by Ordinance No. 14608, passed and
approved by the City Council on November 8, 1978.
SECTION 3. The necessity to authorize acquisition of the aforesaid
parcel and appropriation of the sum hereinabove described in order to effect
the purchase of the described parcel for the Bayfront Science Park Project
creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the
suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be
passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or
resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the

Mayor having declared.that such emergency and necessity exist, and having
requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be
passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in
full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO
ORDAINED, this the I/O day of April, 1980.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance, a
public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter
rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on
the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read
at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, request that you suspend
said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally,on the date it
is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
