HomeMy WebLinkAbout15508 ORD - 04/30/1980vp:4/29/8O:1st AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH THE COUNTY OF NUECES AND JAMES I. TYREE, M. D., WHEREBY DOCTOR JAMES I. TYREE IS APPOINTED ACTING DIRECTOR OF THE CITY -COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND WELFARE PENDING THE ASSUMPTION OF DUTIES BY THE NEW PERMANENT DIRECTOR OF SAID DEPARTMENT AND WHEREBY HE ACCEPTS SUCH APPOINTMENT. TERMS OF SAID AGREEMENT ARE SET OUT IN THE AGREEMENT ATTACHED HERETO, MARKED EXHIBIT "A" AND MADE A PART HEREOF; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to execute an agreement with the County of Nueces and James I. Tyree, M. D., whereby Doctor James I. Tyree is appointed Acting Director of the City -County Department of Health and Welfare pending the assumption of duties by the new permanent Director of said department and whereby he accepts such appointment. Terms of said agreement are set out in the agreement attached hereto, marked Exhibit "A" and made a part hereof. SECTION 2. That the necessity to execute the aforesaid agreement at the earliest practicable date creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or reso- lution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such emergency and necessity exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the AD day of April, 1980. Tyree, M.D., as follows: 1. James I. Tyree, M.D., is hereby appointed Acting Director of the City -County Department of Health and Welfare pending the assumption of duties by the new permanent director of said department. 2. James I. Tyree, M.D., hereby accepts such appointment. 3. The term of this contract shall be one month, commencing May 1, 1980, and terminating May 31, 1980. 4. James I. Tyree, M.D., shall be paid one thousand five hundred dollars ($1,500.00) by the City of Corpus Christi for the services contracted for herein.
