AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF A ONE-HALF
TON PICKUP TRUCK FROM STRAND PONTIAC GMC
INC., AND A ONE TON PICKUP FROM CREVELING
DODGE MOTOR CO., SUBJECT TO APPROVAL BY
THE URBAN MASS TRANSPORTATION ADMINISTRATION,
AS PROVIDED IN THE 1978 UMTA CAPITAL GRANT
PROJECT NO. TX -05-0036 FOR $5,185.00 AND
$5,898.23, RESPECTIVELY; APPROPRIATING OUT
OF THE NO. 216 TRANSIT BOND FUND FOR PROJECT
NO. 21B-72-4 TRANSIT SYSTEM CAPITAL IMPROVE-
MENTS (1978), AN AMOUNT OF $11,083.23 FOR
THE SAID PURCHASE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That authorization is hereby given, subject to
approval by Urban Mass Transportation Administration, for the purchase of a one-half
ton pickup truck from Strand Pontiac G.M.C. Inc., for $5,185.00, and a one ton pickup
truck from Creveling Dodge Motor Company for $5,898.23 as provided for in the 1978 UMTA
Capital Grant Project No. TM -05-0036.
SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated out of the No. 218
Transit Bond Fund for Project No. 218-72-4, Transit System Capital Improvements (1978),
the amount of $11,083.23, for the purchase of said pickup trucks.
SECTION 3. The necessity to execute the contract and to provide
the necessary funds for the purchase of said trucks creates a public emergency and an
imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no
ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City
Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and
having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and this ordinance bepassed
finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and
effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the 01 day of
May, 1980.
