HomeMy WebLinkAbout15567 ORD - 05/28/1980• vp: 5/28/80 :1st AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH KING CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE ELLA BARNES AREA STREET IMPROVEMENT PROJECT, UNIT 1-B; APPRO- PRIATING $1,160,000, OF WHICH $892,880.94 IS FROM THE NO. 162 FEDERAL/STATES GRANT FUND, ACTIVITY 4741, CODE 502, 4TH YEAR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT, AND $267,119.06 IS OUT OF THE NO. 220 STREET BOND FUND; OF WHICH TOTAL APPROPRIATION $1,131,964.50 IS FOR THE CON- STRUCTION CONTRACT AND $28,035.50 IS FOR PROJECT CONTIN- GENCIES, ADDITIONAL ENGINEERING, LABORATORY TESTING, INCIDENTAL AND RELATED COSTS, APPLICABLE TO PROJECT NO. 220-77-2.10, ELLA BARNES UNIT 1-B STREET IMPROVEMENTS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to execute a contract with King Construction Company for construction of the Ella Barnes Area Street Improvement Project, Unit 1-B, all as more fully described in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of King Construction Company, opened on April 9, 1980, said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated the sum of $1,160,000, of which $892,880.94 is from the No. 162 Federal/States Grant Fund, Activity 4741, Code 502, 4th Year Community Development Block Grant, and $267,119.06 is out of the No. 220 Street Bond Fund; of which total appropriation $1,131,964.50 is for the construction contract and $28,035.50 is for project contingencies, additional engineering, laboratory testing, incidental and related costs, applicable to Project No. 220-77-2.10, Ella Barnes Unit 1-B Street Improvements. SECTION 3. That the necessity to authorize execution of the afore- said contract and to provide the necessary funds in order to accomplish the described street improvements creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordi- nance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction 15567 • W kUWFILMED pub 2 9 19B0 • • but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such emergency and necessity exist, having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the 29 day of May, 1980.
