HomeMy WebLinkAbout15570 ORD - 06/04/1980• 1p:6-2-80;1st AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH KING CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR THE SHERIDAN DRIVE -DEVON DRIVE STREET WIDENING PROJECT; APPRO- PRIATING $70,000 FROM THE NO. 220 STREET BOND FUND, OF WHICH APPROPRIATION $62,419.70 IS FOR THE CON- STRUCTION CONTRACT AND $7,580.30 IS FOR CONSTRUC- TION ENGINEERING, LABORATORY TESTING SERVICES, AND RELATED EXPENSES, ALL APPLICABLE TO PROJECT NO. 220-77-30; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to execute a contract with King Construction Company for construction of the Sheridan Drive -Devon Drive Street Widening Project, all as more fully des- cribed in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of King Construction Company opened on May 21, 1980, said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated the sum of $70,000 out of the No. 220 Street Bond Fund of which sum $62,419.70 is for the con- struction contract and $7,580.30 is for construction engineering, laboratory testing services and related costs, applicable to Project No. 220-77-30, Sheridan Drive -Devon Drive Street Widening Project. SECTION 3. That the necessity to execute the aforesaid contract and to appropriate the sums hereinabove set forth so that construction may be commenced at the earliest practicable date creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such emergency and ne- cessity exist, having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the 'f day of June, 1980.
