HomeMy WebLinkAbout15571 ORD - 06/04/1980• 1p:6-2-80;1st AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH A-1 PLUMBING COMPANY FOR MINOR STORM SEWER IMPROVEMENTS, PHASE II; APPROPRIATING $68,000 OUT OF THE NO. 295 STORM SEWER BOND FUND, OF WHICH $61,807.04 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND $6,192.96 IS FOR CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING LABORA- TORY TESTING AND RELATED EXPENSES, ALL APPLICABLE TO PROJECT NO. 295-77-12; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: • SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to execute a contract with A-1 Plumbing Company for Minor Storm Sewer Improvements, Phase II, all as more fully described in the plans and speci- fications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of A-1 Plumbing Company opened on May 21, 1980, said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated the sum of $68,000 out of the No. 295 Storm Sewer Bond Fund of which $61,807.04 is for the construction contract and $6,192.96 is for construction engineering, laboratory testing and related expenses applicable to Project No. 295-77-12, Minor Storm Sewer Improvements. SECTION 3. That the necessity to execute the aforesaid contract and to appropriate the sums hereinabove set forth so that construction may be commenced at the earliest practicable date creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such emergencyand necessity exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the day of June, 1980.
