HomeMy WebLinkAbout15596 ORD - 06/18/1980AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTED A CONTRACT WITH ISLES CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE LAMAR SCHOOL AREA STREET IMPROVEMENTS, PHASE 2; APPROPRIATING $1,013,400, OF WHICH $382,005.32 IS OUT OF THE NO. 220 STREET BOND FUND AND $631,394.68 IS OUT OF THE NO. 162 FEDERAL/STATE GRANT FUND, ACTIVITY 4741, CODE 502, FOURTH YEAR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT, OF WHICH AMOUNT $977,788.40 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND $35,611.60 IS FOR THE ADDITIONAL ENGINEERING, LABORATORY TESTING, INCI- DENTAL AND RELATED EXPENSES APPLICABLE TO PROJECT NO. 220-77- 2.7, LAMAR SCHOOL AREA STREET IMPROVEMENTS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be authorized to execute a contract with Isles Construction Company for construction of the Lamar School Area Street Improvements, Phase 2, all as more particularly described in the plans and speci- fications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference according to the bid of Isle Construc- tion Company, opened on the 23rd day of April, 1980, said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $1,013,400, of which $382,005.32 is out of the No. 220 Street Bond Fund and $631,394.68 is out of the No. 162 Federal/State Grant Fund, Activity 4741, Cade 502, Fourth Year Com- munity Development Block Grant, of which amount $977, 788.40 is for the construc- tion contract and $35,611.60 is for the additional engineering, laboratory testing, incidental and related expenses applicable to Project No. 220-77-2.7, Lamar School Area Street Improvements. SECTION 3. That the necessity to execute the aforesaid contract and to appropriate the sums hereinabove set out so that the improvements to Lamar School Area Street may be made at the earliest practicable date creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its intro- duction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such emergency and necessity exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take MICROFILMED AUG 2 91980 15596 effect and be in fc'.1 fcrce and effect m and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the 47 day of , 1980.
