AN ORDINANCE
•
AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 15383, PASSED AND APPROVED BY
THE CITY COUNCIL ON FEBRUARY 27, 1980, BY CHANGING THE
APPROPRIATION SOURCE FROM WHICH $535,000 WAS APPROPRI-
ATED FOR CONTRACT AWARD FOR IMPROVEMENTS TO VARIOUS
WATER LINES - PHASE 3, ORIGINALLY APPROPRIATED OUT OF
THE NO. 141 WATER OPERATING FUND,AND CHANGING THE AP-
PROPRIATION SOURCE TO THE NO. 162 FEDERAL/STATES GRANT
FUND, ACTIVITY 4744, CODE 502, 5TH YEAR COMMUNITY
DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT, OF WHICH APPROPRIATION
$489,438.25 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT, $8,610
IS FOR CHANGE ORDER NO. 1, $25,000 IS FOR ADDITIONAL
ENGINEERING TO BE PERFORMED BY CITY FORCES AND $11,951.75
IS FOR CONTINGENCIES, THE CONTRACTOR BEING A & G UTILITY
COMPANY, INC.; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 15383, passed and approved by the
City Council on February 27, 1980, be and the same is hereby amended by
changing the appropriation source from which $535,000 was appropriated for
contract award for improvements to various water lines - Phase 3, originally
appropriated out of the No. 141 Water Operating Fund,and changing the appro-
priation source to the No. 162 Federal/States Grant Fund, Activity 4744,
Code 502, 5th Year Community Development Block Grant, of which appropriation
$489,438.25 is for the construction contract; $8,610 is for Change Order
No. 1; $25,000 is for additional engineering to be performed by City forces;
and $11,951.75 is for contingencies, the contractor being A & G Utility
Company, Inc.
SECTION 2. The necessity to make the aforesaid changes at the
earliest practicable date creates a public emergency and an imperative
public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordi-
nance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction
but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings
of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared that such emergency and
necessity exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule
and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction
and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, %%

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance, a
public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter
rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on
the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read
at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, request that you suspend
said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally,on the date it
is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
