HomeMy WebLinkAbout15620 ORD - 07/02/1980• AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE CHANGE ORDER NO. 2 TO THE CONTRACT WITH CLAUDE CHAPMAN CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR THE PHASE I WATER LINE IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT A SUBSTANTIAL COPY OF WHICH CHANGE ORDER IS ATTACHED HERETO AND MADE A PART HEREOF MARKED EXHIBIT "A", WHICH PROVIDES FOR INSTALLATION OF AN UNDERGROUND IRRIGATION SYSTEM AND REPAIR OF BROKEN SEWER TAPS; APPROPRIATING $14,470 OUT OF THE NO. 162 FEDERAL/STATES GRANT FUND, ACTIVITY 4741, CODE 502, 4TH YEAR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FOR SAID CHANGE ORDER N0. 2: AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. • BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be authorized to execute Change Order No. 2 to the contract with Claude Chapman Construction Company for the Phase I Water Line Improvements Project, a substantial copy of which Change Order No. 2 is attached hereto and made a part hereof, marked Exhibit "A", which provides for installation of an underground irrigation system and repair of broken sewer taps. SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $14,470 out of the No. 162 Federal/States Grant Fund, Activity 4741, Code 502, 4th Year Community Development Block Grant for said Change Order No. 2. SECTION 3. The necessity to authorize execution of the aforesaid change order and appropriation of the sums necessary to effect the said change order at the earliest practicable date creates a public emergency and an im- perative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that . no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its intro- duction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such emergency and necessity exist, having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORD- INGLY SO ORDAINED, this the,-} ay of July, 1980: ATTEST: Secretary APPROVED: '7 ---DAY OF JULY, 1980 J. (If left off the plans and specifications, explain why.) 1) Was requested by the Parks Department and Neighborhood Improvement after contract award. 2) Was requested by Wastewater Services to facilitate'rep'airs and have a crew available for other repairs. How can similar changes be avoided in the future? Better interdepartmental communications on similar projects.
