AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 14794, PASSED AND APPROVED
BY THE CITY COUNCIL FEBRUARY 28, 1979, AS AMENDED,
AND IN PARTICULAR AS AMENDED BY ORDINANCE N0. 15503,
PASSED AND APPROVED APRIL 30, 1980, PERTAINING TO
THE FOLLOWING STREET:
PORT AVENUE (M.H. 102) FROM STATE HIGHWAY 286 AYERS
STREET.
BY AMENDING SECTION 3 OF SAID ORDINANCE SO AS TO
CORRECT AND ADJUST ASSESSMENTS LEVIED AGAINST, ABUT-
TING PROPERTY OWNERS ALL AS HEREINAFTER PROVIDED;
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 14794, passed and approved by the
City Council on February 28, 1979, as amended, and particularly as amended
by Ordinance No. 15503, passed and approved on April 30, 1980, be and the
same is hereby amended so as to correct and adjust assessments levied against
abutting property owners as reflected an the corrected assessment roll attach-
ed hereto and made a part hereof, marked Exhibit "A".
SECTION 2. The necessity to immediately amend the assessment roll
as herein set forth creates a public emergency and an imperative public
necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that
such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the
City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such emergency and necessity
exist, having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordi-
nance be passed finally onthe date of its introduction and take effect from
and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this th

This project includes the construction of street improvements within the limits
diseribed. The improvements shall consist of excavation to awidth and depth to
provide a roadway of 72' 10" and 77' measured from the back of the curb with a
6" compacted lime stablized subgrade, a 6" flexible base, a 51/4" asphalt stablized
base and. -111" hot -mix asphaltic concrete. Standard 4" thick reinforced sidewalks
and 6" thick reinforced concrete driveways will be constructed according
plans and specifications of the State Department of 8tghways and Public Tztoo the
ansporCatioa.
This project is being constructed jointly by the City and the State Dept of
Highways and Public Transportation, This is an'improvement assessment project and
abutting property owners are assessed in accordance with the assessment policy of the
City of Corpus Christi. Based on the low bid submitted by Heldenfels Brothers, Inc...
and the assessment policy, the assessment rates are as follows:
Curb, Gutter & Pavement @ $53.92 per L.F.
Sidewalk
@ $10.81 per S.Y.
Driveway @ $ 2.54 per S.F.
Header Curb. @ $ 5.86 per L.F.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance, a
public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter
rule or requirement that no ordinanceor resolution shall be passed finally on
the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read
at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, request that you suspend
said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally, on the date it
is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
