HomeMy WebLinkAbout15654 RES - 07/23/1980vp:7/2I!8O:lst A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE COUNCIL'S APPRECIATION TO THE BUDGET ADVISORY COMMITTEE FOR ITS OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, our City government has become so complex that it has become more and more dependent on the cooperation of respected members of our community who make up the different boards and commissions so essential to the effective administration of the City; and WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi has at one time or another faced challenges that call for the pooling of skills, expertise and resources from qualified and civic -minded giants of industry, commerce and other vital components of Sparkling City By The Sea; and WHEREAS, the preparation of the Budget of our City, a most delicate endeavor which affects our entire community, is in the process; and WHEREAS, our City government, confident that it had in its midst capable persons ready, willing and able to contribute to a realistic and conscientious study of the City's Budget that enabled the City officials to provide the vital and necessary services to our community; and WHEREAS, the recommendations pertaining to the City Budget have been made possible by the unstinted efforts of fourteen members of our community from all walks of life who made up the City Budget Advisory Committee; and WHEREAS, the City Council and the City staff are proud to have had the valuable cooperation of these community -oriented citizens in this endeavor; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: SECTION 1. That in the name of the citizens of this community the City Council wishes to recognize each member of the Budget Advisory Committee and extend to them our most heartfelt thanks for their unselfish and valuable contribution to this delicate task. SECTION 2. That this resolution be spread upon the Minutes and that the City Secretary mail to each member of the Budget Advisory Committee a copy of this resolution. i5 54 �U�-zLiELu SECTION 3. That the necessity to recognize the efforts and valuable service of the City Budget Advisory Committee at the earliest possible date creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council and the Mayor having declared that such emergency and necessity exist, having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO RESOLVED, this the 23rd day of July, 1980.
