A RESOLUTION
DESIGNATING THE NUECES COUNTY APPRAISAL DISTRICT AS THE
SOLE APPRAISAL DISTRICT IN WHICH THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI SHALL PARTICIPATE, AS PROVIDED FOR IN SECTION
6.02(6) AND (c) OF THE TEXAS PROPERTY CODE; AND DECLARING
AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, Section 6.02(b) and (c) of the Texas Property Tax Code
provides any city which has city limits extending into two or more counties
the option of choosing which county appraisal district it desires to appraise
the property of the city; and
WHEREAS, the city limits of the City of Corpus Christi presently
extend into Nueces, San Patricio, and Kleberg counties; and
WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion that it would be in
the best interest of the City of Corpus Christi if the Nueces County Appraisal
District appraised property within the city limits;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City of Corpus Christi shall participate in
the Nueces County Appraisal District, and shall not participate in the San
Patricio County Appraisal District or the Kleberg County Appraisal District.
SECTION 2. That the necessity to designate the Nueces County
Appraisal District as the sole appraisal district in which the City of
Corpus Christi shall participate at the earliest practicable date creates
a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspen-
sion of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed
finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution
shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor
having declared such emergency and necessity exist, having requested the
Charter rule be suspended and that this resolution be passed finally on the
date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from
after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO RESOLVED, this the 27 day of
