HomeMy WebLinkAbout15720 RES - 08/27/1980• Mb A RESOLUTION DESIGNATING THE NUECES COUNTY APPRAISAL DISTRICT AS THE SOLE APPRAISAL DISTRICT IN WHICH THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI SHALL PARTICIPATE, AS PROVIDED FOR IN SECTION 6.02(6) AND (c) OF THE TEXAS PROPERTY CODE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, Section 6.02(b) and (c) of the Texas Property Tax Code provides any city which has city limits extending into two or more counties the option of choosing which county appraisal district it desires to appraise the property of the city; and WHEREAS, the city limits of the City of Corpus Christi presently extend into Nueces, San Patricio, and Kleberg counties; and WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion that it would be in the best interest of the City of Corpus Christi if the Nueces County Appraisal District appraised property within the city limits; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City of Corpus Christi shall participate in the Nueces County Appraisal District, and shall not participate in the San Patricio County Appraisal District or the Kleberg County Appraisal District. SECTION 2. That the necessity to designate the Nueces County Appraisal District as the sole appraisal district in which the City of Corpus Christi shall participate at the earliest practicable date creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspen- sion of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity exist, having requested the Charter rule be suspended and that this resolution be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO RESOLVED, this the 27 day of A EST: , 1980. y ecretary APPRO ED: 224 DAY OF , 1980: J.
