AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE CHANGE ORDER
NUMBERS 4 AND 6 TO THE CONTRACT WITH BEECROFT AND
WILLIAMSON, INC., FOR IMPROVEMENTS TO THE MEMORIAL
COLISEUM AND EXPOSITION HALL, WHICH PROVIDE FOR REPAIRS
TO THE FRONT OF THE COLISEUM AND FOR INSTALLATION OF
ADDITIONAL SEATING IN THE PRESS BOX AREA, A SUBSTANTIAL
COPY OF EACH CHANGE ORDER BEING ATTACHED HERETO AND
MADE A PART HEREOF, MARKED EXHIBIT "A"; APPROPRIATING
$4,396 OUT OF THE NO. 261 COLISEUM BOND FUND OF WHICH
$3,876 IS FOR CHANGE ORDER NO. 4 AND $520 IS FOR CHANGE
ORDER NO. 6, APPLICABLE TO PROJECT NO. 261-77-1,
COLISEUM IMPROVEMENTS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized
to execute Change Order Numbers 4 and 6 to the contract with Beecroft and
Williamson, Inc., for improvements to the Memorial Coliseum and Exposition
Hall, which provide for repairs to the front of the Coliseum and for instal-
lation of additional seating in the press box area, a substantial copy of
each change order being attached hereto and made a part hereof, marked
Exhibit "A".
SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated the sum of $4,396 out
of the No. 261 Coliseum Bond Fund of which $3,876 is for Change Order No. 4
and $520 is for Change Order No. 6, applicable to Project No. 261-77-1,
Coliseum Improvements.
SECTION 3. That the necessity to execute Change Orders No. 4 and 6
to the contract with Beecroft and Williamson, Inc., for improvements above
described and to appropriate the sums necessary to construct the improvements
at the earliest practicable date creates a public emergency and an imperative
public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordi-
nance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction
but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings
of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such emergency and
necessity exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and
that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and

take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT
IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the 3 day of September, 1980.

The cost of repairing the damaged front entrance is $3,876:00+ Included
in this price are the following:
1. Re -set column
2. Remove the bottom 18 inches of column and replace with new
section and base plate.
3._Anchor base plate with expansion bolts.
4. Furnish two new doors, frames, and panic hardware.
5. Re -wrap column with new break metal.
6. Replace glass in one door where the frame was not damaged.
7. Re -use existing threshold.
8. Re -use existing door closure arm and hold open arms.
The delivery time on the door and panic hardware will be 4 to 6 weeks.
Please let us know as soon as possible if you want us to do this work.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance, a
public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter
rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on
the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read
at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, request that you suspend
said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it
is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
