HomeMy WebLinkAbout15769 ORD - 09/17/1980• 1p:9-15-80;1st AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 8127, THE COMPENSATION PLAN FOR THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, AS AMENDED, BY AMENDING SECTION 550, ADMINISTRATION OF THE COMPEN- SATION PLAN, BY ADDING A NEW SUBSECTION, 551.6, RATE OF PAY ON CLASSIFICATION SERIES CHANGES, SO AS TO PROVIDE FOR ADVANCEMENT IN PAY GRADE BECAUSE OF CHANGE IN PAY GRADE OF A PARTICULAR JOB CLASSI- FICATION TO THE STEP IN THE NEW PAY GRADE WHICH WILL PROVIDE A FIVE PERCENT (5%) SALARY INCREASE; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE; PROVIDING A SEVERANCE CLAUSE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. • BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 8127, as amended, be and the same is hereby amended by adding to Section 550, Administration of the Compensation Plan, a new subsection, to be numbered 551.6, reading as follows: "551.6 Rate of pay on Classification Series Changes. Employees advanced to a higher salary grade as aresult of classification changes shall be advanced to the lowest step in the higher salary grade which will provide a minimum 5% salary increase over the salary received immediately prior to the classification change. All subsequent step advancements shall be granted in conformity with the required time in service provided for each step within the general salary schedule." SECTION 2. The aforesaid changes shall take effect and become effective September 17, 1980 SECTION 3. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance, for it is the definite intent of this City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, word, phrase or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose. SECTION 4. The necessity to maintain at all times an efficient administration of City Affairs creates a public emergency and an imperative AirdRUHISIED SEP 2 71984 • public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared that such emergency and necessity exist, having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the /7 day of September, 1980.
