AN ORDINANCE
APPROVING THE SALE OF BLUEBONNET TRANSPORTATION
COMPANY TO CORPUS CHRISTI TRANSPORTATION COMPANY
SUBJECT TO THE PAYMENT OF ALL DUE FRANCHISE FEES
OF BLUEBONNET TRANSPORTATION COMPANY, AND SUBJECT
TO THE CONDITION THAT THE BLUEBONNET NAME BE DIS-
CONTINUED AND THAT ALL TAXICABS BE REPAINTED CON-
SISTENT WITH CORPUS CHRISTI TRANSPORTATION COLORS
PRIOR TO APRIL 1, 1981; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, by authority of Ordinance No. 14629, passed and approved
by the City Council on November 22, 1978, a five-year franchise was granted
to Bluebonnet Transportation Company to operate taxicabs along and over the
public streets, alleys and thoroughfares of the City of Corpus Christi; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with the terms of said franchise grant, the
said franchise and the permits held by Bluebonnet Transportation Company
may be sold, transferred and inherited, but prior approval by the City Council
Must be obtained prior to any sale or transfer; and
WHEREAS, the Bluebonnet Transportation Company has submitted a
request in writing to the City Council for such approval of sale:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That approval is hereby given for sale of the Blue-
bonnet Transportation Company to the Corpus Christi Transportation Company
subject to the payment of all due franchise fees of Bluebonnet Transportation
Company and subject to the condition that the Bluebonnet name be discontinued
and that all taxicabs be repainted consistent with Corpus Christi Transporta-
tion colors prior to April 1, 1981.
SECTION 2. The necessity to approve the sale of the Bluebonnet
Transportation Company to the Corpus Christi Transportation Company as herein-
above set forth at the earliest practicable date creates a public emergency
and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter
rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of
its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at
three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared

that such emergency and necessity exist, having requested the suspension of
the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of
its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and
after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the ,2,C/I . day

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance, a
public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter
rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on
the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read
at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, request that you suspend
said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it
is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
