HomeMy WebLinkAbout15793 ORD - 09/24/1980AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH THE HARBOR COMPANY FOR IMPROVEMENTS TO THE CORPUS CHRISTI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, RENOVATION OF GATEHOUSES 1 AND 2; APPROPRIATING $105,000 OUT OF THE NO. 245 AIRPORT BOND FUND, OF WHICH $99,290 IS FOR THE CONSTRUC- TION CONTRACT AND $5,710 IS FOR LEGAL ADVERTISING, PRINT- ING, CONTINGENCIES AND INCIDENTAL AND RELATED EXPENSES APPLICABLE TO PROJECT NO. 245-77-4, TERMINAL BUILDING IMPROVEMENTS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized, subject to approval by the Federal Aviation Agency, to execute a contract with Harbor Company for improvements to the Corpus Christi International Airport, Renovation of Gatehouses 1 and 2, all as more fully described in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and a according to the bid of Harbor Company, opened on the 27th day of August, 1980, said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated out of the No. 245 Airport Bond Fund the sum of $105,000, of which amount $99,290 is for the construction contract and $5,710 is for legal advertising, printing, contingencies and incidental and related expenses applicable to Project No. 245-77-4, Terminal Building Improvements. SECTION 3. That the necessity to execute the aforesaid contract and to appropriate the sums hereinabove set forth so that construction of the improvements to the Corpus Christi International Airport, Renovation of Gatehouses 1 and 2, may commence at the earliest practicable date creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such emergency and necessity exist, having requested the MICROFILMED...
