AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE DOCUMENTS NECESSARY
TO ACQUIRE PARCEL 19, AT THE UPDATED VALUE, IN CONNECTION
WITH THE BAYFRONT SCIENCE PARK PROJECT, 209-76-1.3; APPRO-
PRIATING OUT OF THE NO. 209 COMMUNITY CONVENTION FACILITY
BOND FUND THE SUM OF $44,00, OF WHICH $43,950 IS FOR ACQUI-
SITION AND $650 IS FOR INCIDENTAL COSTS RELATED TO CLOSING,
TO SUPPLEMENT FUNDS PREVIOUSLY APPROPRIATED; AND DECLARING
AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized
and directed to execute documents necessary to acquire, from Philip H. Hamlett,
Parcel 19 at the updated value, in connection with the Bayfront Science Park
Project, No. 209-76-1.3, said parcel being hereinafter more fully described
as follows:
PARCEL 19
All that portion of Lots Seven (7) and Eight (8),
Block Eighty-nine (89), BEACH PORTION, of the City
of Corpus Christi, Texas, according to the map or
plat thereof, recorded in Volume "A", Page 3, Map
Records, Nueces County, Texas, which lie East of the
present East boundary line of Mesquite Street, being
68.89 feet on Carrol Street extending South 100 feet
with the East line of Lots 7 and 8, Block 89;
Thence westerly 122.8 feet to the East line of Mesquite
Street as now laid out and following the East line of
Mesquite Street to Carrol Street, a distance of 113.61
feet.
SECTION 2. There is hereby appropriated out of the No. 209 Community
Convention Facility Bond Fund the sum of $44,600, of which amount $43,950 is
for acquisition and $650 is for incidental costs related to the closing, to
supplement funds previously appropriated.
SECTION 3. The necessity to authorize acquisition of the aforesaid
parcel and to appropriate the necessary sums in order that the project may
continue without delay creates a public emergency and an imperative public
necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that
such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the
City Council, and the Mayor, having declared such emergency and necessity to
exist, having requested the suspension of said Charter rule and that this

ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect
and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance, a
public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter
rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on
the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read
at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, request that you suspend
said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it
is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
