HomeMy WebLinkAbout15911 ORD - 11/26/1980AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE COMPENSATION ORDINANCE, N0. 8127, OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI BY ADDING THERETO SECTION 608 TO PROVIDE THAT EMPLOYMENT OF THE HURRICANEALLEN EMER- GENCY HOUSING ASSISTANCE SECTION ON OR AFTER NOVEMBER 26, 1980 CERTAIN POSITIONS TO BE CLASSIFIED AS NEWLY HIRED EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY, TO BE TEMPORARY IN NATURE, AND TO END ON OR BEFORE NOVEMBER 30, 1981, AS MORE FULLY SET FORTH HEREINAFTER; PROVIDING A SEVERANCE CLAUSE; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 8127, the Compensation Ordinance for the City of Corpus Christi, as amended, be amended by adding a new section. to be numbered 608, to hereafter read as follows: "608 Any employee entering into a position in the Hurricane Allen Emergency Housing Assistance Section on or after w - November 26, 1980, shall be classified and compensatedin the following salary grades as newly hired employees: POSITION -- RATE PER HOUR $12.96 9.53 8.94 8.94 7.30 -- $8.94 7.30 7.30 5.90 -- $6.57 Director Quality Control/MHOPS Chief Advisory Services Officer Fiscal Officer Quality Control Inspector Information Management Officer Senior Housing Advisor Housing Advisor Mobile Home Operations Control Specialist/Data Processor Control Specialist/Data'Processor Secretary Voucher Examiner Secretary/Receptionist 6.57 5.90 5.90 5.27 5.90 These positions are temporary in nature and shall end on or before November 30, 1981." If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance, for it is the definite intent of this City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, word, phrase, or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose. SECTION 3. Except as otherwise may be provided herein, the effec- tive dates of the above changes shall be from and after passage of this ordinance. SECTION 4. The necessity to maintain at all times an efficient ad- ministration of City affairs creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such emergency and necessity exist, having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be -in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the 4 day of November, 1980.
