AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE CHANGE ORDER NO. 2
TO THE CONTRACT WITH ISLES CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR RECON-
STRI)CTION OF THE LAMAR AREA STREETS WHICH PROVIDES FOR RE's
MOVAL OF A CONCRETE MEDIAN IN AGNES STREET FROM PORT AVENUE
TO 21ST STREET, A SUBSTANTIAL COPY OF WHICH CHANGE ORDER IS
ATTACHED HERETO AND MADE A PART HEREOF MARKED EXHIBIT "A";
APPROPRIATING $9,745.25 OUT OF THE NO. 220 STREET BOND FUND
APPLICABLE TO PROJECT NO. 220-77-2.7, LAMAR AREA STREET
IMPROVEMENTS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized
to execute Change Order No. 2 to the contract with Isles Construction Company
for reconstruction of the Lamar Area Streets which provides for removal of a
concrete median in Agnes Street from Port Avenue to 21st Street, a substan-
tial copy of which Change Order No. 2 is attached hereto and made a part
hereof, marked Exhibit A.
SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated out of the No. 220
Street Bond Fund the sum of $9,745.25 applicable to Project No. 220-77-2.7,
Lamar Area Street Improvements.
SECTION 3. The necessity to authorize execution of the aforesaid
change order and the appropriation of said sums at the earliest practicable
date creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring
the.suspenion of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be
passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or
resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and
the Mayor having declared that such emergency and necessity exist, having
requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be
passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in
full force and effect from and after its passage, IT3IS ACCORDINGLY SO
ORDAINED, this the /7 day of December, 1980.

area where median is removed at the contract unit
bid price of $3.85 per square yard.

Vhy was this change necessary? (If left off the plans and specifications, explain why.)
The removal of the median in this area was part of a motion passed by the City Council
on October 22, 1980. Adding the work to this contract will simplify administration and
is more economical than a separate contract.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance, a
public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter
rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on
the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read
at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, request that you suspend
said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it
is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
