AN ORDINANCE
ESTABLISHING INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT AREAS
WHEREAS, under Article 970A, the Municipal Annexation Act, Vernon's
Texas Civil Statutes, the governing body of any city has the right, power and
authority to designate any part of the area located in its extraterritorial
jurisdiction as an Industrial District, as the term is customarily used, and
to treat such area from time to time as such governing body may deem to be in
the best interest of the city; and
WHEREAS, Article 974A, the platting statute, Vernon's Texas Civil
Statutes, requires plans, plats or replats to conform to the general plan of
the city in its streets, alleys, playgrounds, and public utility facilities,
including those which have been or may be laid out, and to the general plan -,
for the extension of such city and of its roads, streets, and public highways
within said city and within five miles of the corporate limits thereof; and
WHEREAS, the Charter of the City of Corpus Christi in Article V,
Section 4, contemplates a Master Plan for the physical development of'the City
of Corpus Christi, allowing for growth, development and beautification of the
City; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to provide for industrial develop-
ment areas to encourage industrial growth compatible with the above cited 1
provisions of state law and the City Charter;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the following areas in the City of Corpus Christi's
extraterritorial jurisdiction are designated as Industrial Development Areas:
Corpus Christi Industrial Development Area No. 1
Lands within Nueces County, Texas, outside the city limits
of the City of Corpus Christi and generally on the southwest
by the existing northeast right-of-way of Interstate Highway
37, and bounded on the north by the south shoreline of Nueces
River and Nueces Bay, on the west by the east right-of-way of
Carbon Plant Road (County Road 558) from Interstate Highway 37
to McKinzie Road and the north right-of-way line of McKinzie
Road (County Road 56) from Carbon Plant Road to the east
property line of the, City's Allison Treatment Plant property
and along the east property line of the City's Allison Treat-
ment Plant from McKinzie Road to the Nueces River.

Corpus Christi Industrial Development Area No. 2
Lands within Nueces County, Texas, outside the city limits
of the City of Corpus Christi and generally on the south
by the existing north right-of-way line of State Highway
No. 44, on the west by the east right-of-way line of Farm
to Market Road 1694 (Callicoatte Road), from State Highway
No. 44 to Swetlick Road (County Road 44) and on the north
by the south right-of-way line of Swetlick Road from Farm
to Market Road 1694 to Farm to Market Road 24 (Violet Road)
and on the east right-of-way of Farm to Market Road 24 from
Swetlick Road to the north property line of CCPC extended
westerly to Farm to Market Road 24, and on the north property
line of CCPC extended from Farm to Market Road 24 to and
along the north property line of CCPC and extended easterly
to the present city limit line, and along the present city
limit line to the north right-of-way line of State Highway 44.
SECTION 2. The Planning Commission of the City of Corpus Christi
and all City departments are instructed to mark all maps accordingly and not to
accept plats or provide any City services in any of such areas without refer-
ring such plat or plats or requests for City services to the City Council.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect from and after its
passage.
