HomeMy WebLinkAbout16015 ORD - 02/04/1981AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY AND THE WATERCOLOR SOCIETY OF SOUTH TEXAS, A SUBSTANTIAL COPY OF WHICH AGREEMENT IS ____- ATTACHED HERETO AND MADE A PART HEREOF, MARKED EXHIBIT "A"; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be,authorized to execute an agreement between the City and the Watercolor Society of South Texas, a substantial copy of which agreement is attached hereto, marked Exhibit "A", and made a part hereof. SECTION 2. The necessity to authorize immediate execution of the aforesaid agreement creates a public emergency and an imperative public neces- sity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolu- tion shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such Council, and the Mayor having declared that such emergency and necessity exist, having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and ffect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the day of February, 1981. BRUCE AYCOCK, CITY ATTORNEY By / E 2,< 4/;41,- Assistant /'4LyAssistant Citif, 1G015 THE COF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS MICROFILMED; SfiP 2 71984 AGREEMENT THE STATE OF TEXAS 1 COUNTY OF NUECES 1 WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi is interested in providing support of the Watercolor Show to be sponsored by the Watercolor Society of South Texas through the Society's hosting of "Watercolor' Southwest VI" which will bring contemporary artists of the West and Southwest to exhibit in our community; and t WHEREAS, this exhibition will be during June, 1981 and will be free to the public: NOW, THEREFORE, the following contract and agreement is entered into by the City of Corpus Christi and the officers of the Watercolor Society of South Texas. The Watercolor Society of South Texas agrees to the following: A. Provide a juried exhibit of the works by watercolorists from Arizona, California, New Mexico, Oregon and Texas. B. This exhibition will be displayed in the Bayfront Plaza Auditorium and Convention Center from June 1 - June 30, 1981 and will be free to the public. C. Provide a workshop to be conducted by the jurors which will attract participants from throughout the country, as well as a study opportunity for local artists. In consideration of the Watercolor Society of South Texas providing the above program, the City of Corpus Christi agrees to pay to the Society the sum of $4,000.00 for the expenses of the cultural event. Expenses will be limited to exhibit fee for Bayfront Plaza space rental and storage space, printing, catalog and other promotional expenses, crating and shipping, and jurors fees and workshop expenses. The Watercolor Society agrees to submit periodic reports listing expenses incurred for which reimbursement is requested. Reimbursement will be made upon review and approval of these reports by the City. The Watercolor Society of South Texas further agrees that a statement of revenues and expenditures and an activity report including number of artists participating, number of exhibits and attendance for the month long exhibit and related Ziol events will be submitted to the City of Corpus Christi so that the cost of the event can be sufficiently related to the benefits received by the citizens of Corpus Christi. TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL Corpus Christi, Texas For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally,on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
