HomeMy WebLinkAbout16070 ORD - 02/25/1981AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING T{E CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH TEXAS FENCE & SUPPLY FOR PURCHASE AND INSTALLA- TION OF THE AUTOMATIC GATES AT THE CORPUS CHRISTI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT; APPROPRIATING $26,500 OUT OF THE NO. 245 AIRPORT BOND FUND OF WHICH $25,000 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND $1,500 IS FOR ADDITIONAL ENGINEERING, INCIDENTAL AND CONTINGENCY EXPENSES APPLICABLE TO PROJECT NO. 245-77-8 (FAA GRANT NO. 6-48-0051-06), AUTOMATIC SECURITY GATES; SAID AWARD AND APPROPRIATION BEING SUBJECT AND CONTINGENT UPON APPROVAL FROM THE FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to execute a contract with Texas Fence & Supply for purchase and installation of the automatic gates at the Corpus Christi International Airport, all as more fully described in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of Texas Fence & Supply opened on the llth day of February, 1981, said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated the sum of $26,500 out of the No. 245 Airport Bond Fund, of which $25,000 is for the construction contract and $1,500 is. for additional engineering, incidental and 'Contingency expenses, applicable to Project No. 245-77-8 (FAA Grant No. 6-48-0051-06), Automatic Security Gates, said award and appropriation being subject to and contingent upon approval from the Federal Aviation Administration. SECTION 3. The necessity to authorize execution of the aforesaid agreement and to appropriate the sums set forth, subject to and contingent upon approval from the Federal Aviation Administration, in order that the described improvements may be installed at the earliest practicable date creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared that such emergency and necessity exist, having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its 1607o kuP z 71984 introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and'effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the r - day of February, 1981.
