HomeMy WebLinkAbout16085 ORD - 03/04/198117 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH THE GOLDSTON COMPANY FOR REPAIR OF THE BREAKWATER AND MCGEE BEACH CONCESSION AREA SUSTAINED DURING HURRICANE ALLEN; APPROPRIATING $258,000 OUT OF THE NO. 291 PARK BOND FUND OF WHICH $249,890 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND $8,110 IS FOR INSPECTION COSTS, LEGAL ADVERTISING, INCIDENTAL AND CONTINGENCY EXPENSES, OF WHICH TOTAL APPROPRIATION OF $193,500 IS THE FEDERAL SHARE CONTRIBUTED BY THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY AND $64,500 IS FROM THE NO. 291 PARK BOND FUND APPLICABLE TO PROJECT NO. 291-77-12, BREAKWATER/MCGEE BEACH CONCESSION REPAIRS - HURRICAN ALLEN; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to execute a contract with the Goldston Company for repair of the breakwater and McGee Beach concession area sustained during Hurricane Allen, all as more fully described in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of Goldston Company, opened on February 11, 1981, said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated the sum of $258,000 out of the No. 291 Park Bond Fund of which $249,890 is for the construction contract and $8,110 is for inspection costs, legal advertising, incidental and contingency expenses, of which total appropriation of $193,500 is the federal share contributed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and $64,500 is from the No. 291 Park Bond Fund applicable to Project No. 291-77-12, Breakwater/McGee Beach Concession Repairs - Hurricane Allen. SECTION 3. That the necessity to execute the aforesaid contract and to appropriate the sums hereinabove set forth so that construction may be com- menced at the earliest practicable date creates a public emergency and an impera- tive public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordi- nance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared that such emergency and necessity exist, having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force a d effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the day of March, 1981.
