HomeMy WebLinkAbout16163 ORD - 04/01/1981r1 :3/31/81 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH BRASELTON CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR IMPROVEMENTS TO AND EXPANSION OF THE TERMINAL BUILDING AT THE CORPUS CHRISTI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT; APPROPRIATING $1,280,000 OUT OF THE NO. 245 AIRPORT BOND FUND OF WHICH $1,194,000 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND $86,000 IS FOR POSSIBLE CHANGE ORDERS, ENGINEERING INSPECTION FEES, LEGAL ADVER- TISING, CONTINGENCIES, AND RELATED EXPENSES APPLICABLE TO PROJECT NO. 245-77-4, TERMINAL BUILDING IMPROVEMENTS, SUBJECT TO APPROVAL FROM THE FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRA- TION (FAA PROJECT ADAP NO. 6-48-0051-11); AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to execute a contract with Braselton Construction Company for improvements to and expansion of the terminal building at the Corpus Christi International Airport, all as more fully set forth in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of Braselton Con- struction Company, opened on March 25, 1981, said bid being the lowest and most advantegeous to the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated the sum of $1,280,000 out of the No. 245 Airport Bond Fund of which $1,194,000 is for the construc- tion contract and $86,000 is for possible change orders, engineering inspection fees, legal advertising, contingencies, and related expenses applicable to Project No, 245-77.4, Terminal Building Improvements, subject to approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA Project ADAP No. 6-48-0051-11), SECTION 3. That the necessity to execute the aforesaid contract and to appropriate the sums hereinabove set out so that the improvements and expan- sion of the terminal building at the Corpus Christi International Airport may be made at the earliest practicable date creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduc- tion but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared that such emergency and necessity exist, having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that 16163 MICROFILMED SEP 27 1984 this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effectfromand after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the bal day of April, 1981.
