HomeMy WebLinkAbout16215 ORD - 04/29/1981r TEXAS: AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT A REQUEST FOR GRANT - IN -LIEU IN THE AMOUNT OF $13,875 TO THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY FOR ELIGIBLE REPAIRS TO THE PROTECTIVE STRUCTURE, INCLUDING PILINGS, AROUND THE 48 -INCH WATER LINE WHICH CROSSES THE HEARNE ROAD DITCH DAMAGED BY HURRICANE ALLEN, A SUBSTANTIAL COPY OF WHICH REQUEST IS ATTACHED HERETO AND MADE A PART HEREOF, MARKED EXHIBIT "A"; AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF ALL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY TO OBTAIN THE GRANT - IN -LIEU; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to submit a request for grant -in -lieu in the amount of $13,875 to the Federal Emergency Management Agency for eligible repairs to the protective structure, including pilings, around the 48 -inch water line which crosses the Hearne Road Ditch damaged by Hurricane Allen, a substantial copy of which request is attached hereto and made a part hereof, marked Exhibit "A". SECTION 2. That the City Manager be authorized to execute all documents necessary to obtain the grant -in -lieu for the purposes aforesaid. SECTION 3. The necessity to authorize submission of request for grant -in -lieu and to execute all documents necessary in order to obtain funds for the above described project creates a public emergency and a public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Countil, and the Mayor, having declared that 4 such emergency and necessity exist, having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in;•fu11 force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED this the day of April, 1981.
