HomeMy WebLinkAbout16225 ORD - 05/06/1981jkh:5-6-81;1st AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AMENDED LEASE AGREEMENT WITH THE TEMET CORPORATION FOR THE CITY'S CETA/EOPP ADMINISTRATION OFFICES, REDUCING THE RENTAL AREA BY 762 SQUARE FEET BY OCCUPYING 1436 SQUARE FEET ON THE FOURTH FLOOR OF THE NUECES BUILDING, EFFECTIVE MAY 6, 1981, ALL AS MORE FULLY SET FORTH IN THE LEASE AGREEMENT, A SUBSTANTIAL COPY OF WHICH IS ATTACHED HERETO AND MADE A PART HEREOF, MARKED EXHIBIT "A"; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That th City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to execute an amended Lease Agreement with the Temet Corporation for the City's CETA/EOPP Administration Offices, reducing the rental area by, 762 square feet, by occupying 1436 square feet on the fourth floor of the Nueces Building, effective May 6, 1981, all as more fully set forth in the Lease Agreement, a substantial copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof, marked Exhibit "A". SECTION 2. The necessity to authorize execution of the amended Lease Agreement as aforesaid at the earliest practicable date creates a public emergency and necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor or Council members, having declared that such emergency and necessity exist, having requested the sus- pension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the day of May, 1981. Assistant City) trorney 4 MAYOR THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS MICROFILMED 16225 SEP 2 71984 LEASE AGREEMENT AMENDMENT The State of Texas County of Nueces This Lease Agreement amendment is made by and between Leslie Simon, doing business as Tercet Corporation, hereinafter called "Lessor", and the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, a municipal corporation, hereinafter called "Lessee". WITNESSETH: That said Lessor does by these presents lease and demise unto said Lessee the following described property lying and being situated in the City of Corpus Christi, Nueces County, Texas to -wit: All of the third floor containing 4,608 square feet and releasing 2,198 square feet on the second floor and adding 1,436 square feet on the fourth floor (rooms 408 and 410),reducing the total leased space by 762 square feet for a new total of 6,044 square feet of the Nueces. Building, 317 Peoples Street, and being further described as a portion of Lot.7, Block 4, Beach Addition, Corpus Christi, Nueces County, Texas, for a term of five (5) months commencing May 1, 1981 and terminating September 30, 1981. 1. The Lessee shall pay as rent the reduced sum of four thousand and two hundred and thirty dollars and eighty cents ($4,230.80) which monthly rent shall become due and payable in advance effective May 1, 1981. 2. Lessor will be.responsible for and bear or promptly reimburse Lessee for all costs of terminating telephone service presently provided to Lessee's office on the second floor and installing comparable telephone service to Lessee's officeg to be located on the fourth floor of said Nueces Building.
