AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 11727, PASSED AND APPROVED ON
OCTOBER 3, 1973, PROVIDING FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A
SENIOR COMMUNITY SERVICES ADVISORY COMMITTEE TO ASSIST
AND ADVISE IN THE PLANNING AND FORMULATION OF SENIOR
CITIZENS PROGRAMS, AS AMENDED, SO AS TO DESIGNATE THE
SENIOR COMMUNITY SERVICES ADVISORY COMMITTEE AS HAVING
THE ADDITIONAL FUNCTION OF ASSISTING IN THE PLANNING
FORMULATION OF THE TITLE V OLDER WORKER EMPLOYMENT
PROGRAM; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That Ordinance 11727, passed and approved on
October 3, 1973, providing for the establishment of a Senior Community
Services Advisory Committee to assist and advise in the planning and formula-
tion of Senior Citizens Programs, as amended, be amended by adding to the
fourth introductory paragraph of said ordinance a new item, to be numbered
7), reading as follows:
"7) To assist in the planning and formulation of the
Title V Older Worker Employment Program."
SECTION 2. Except as herein amended and provided, the terms,
conditions and provisions of Ordinance Nos. 11727 and 12700 shall be and
remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 3. The necessity to adopt the provision hereinabove set
forth in order to comply with the requirements of the National Council on
Aging creates a public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter
rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of
its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at
three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor or Council Members,
having declared that such emergency and necessity exist, having requested
the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally
on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect
from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the ) 3 day
of May, 1981.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance, a
public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter
rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on
the date it is introduced, but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read
at three meetings of the City Council; I/we, therefore, request that you suspend
said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date
it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
