HomeMy WebLinkAbout16290 ORD - 06/03/1981nh:6-2-81;1st • TEXAS: AN ORDINANCE APPOINTING JOE ALSUP JUDGE OF THE MUNICIPAL COURT IN CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, AND PRESIDING JUDGE OF THE CORPUS CHRISTI MUNICIPAL COURTS "A", "B", "C", AND "D"; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI SECTION 1. The appointment of Joe Alsup as Judge of the Municipal Court in Corpus Christi, Texas, by nomination of the Mayor and confirmation by the City Council is hereby declared and affirmed, and said Judge shall be designated as Presiding Judge of the Municipal Courts A, B, C and D in the City of Corpus Christi, Texas. Said appointment shall be subject to the pro- visions of City ordinance, the City Charter and State law concerning Municipal Courts. SECTION 2. The provisions of this ordinance shall take effect and be in effect from and after passage of this ordinance, for a term concurrent with the term of the appointing City Council. SECTION 3. The necessity for immediate provision of the appointment of Judge of the Municipal Court in Corpus Christi, Texas creates an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor or Council members, having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the 3 day of June, 1981.
