AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A LEASE.
AGREEMENT WITH AMERICAN AIRLINES, INC., FOR THE
USE OF CERTAIN SPACE WEST OF THE CORPUS CHRISTI
INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT TERMINAL BUILDING, AT AN
ANNUAL RENT OF $600, ON A MONTH-TO-MONTH BASIS
UNTIL LEASES ARE CONSUMMATED WITH ALL AIRLINE
USERS, SAID SPACE BEING LEASED FOR THE PURPOSE
OF ERECTING A BUILDING TO HANDLE AMERICAN AIR-
LINES CARGO AND AIR FREIGHT, ALL AS MORE FULLY
DESCRIBED IN THE LEASE AGREEMENT, A SUBSTANTIAL
COPY OF WHICH IS ATTACHED HERETO AND MADE A PART
HEREOF, MARKED EXHIBIT "A"; AND DECLARING AN EMER-
GENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized
to execute a lease agreement with American Airlines, Inc., for the use of
certain space west of the Terminal Building at the Corpus Christi Inter-
national Airport, at an annual rent of $600, on a month-to-month basis until
leases are consummated with all airline users, said space being leased for
the purpose of erecting a building to handle American Airlines cargo and air
freight, all as more fully set forth in the Lease Agreement, a substantial
copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof, marked Exhibit "A".
SECTION 2. The necessity to execute the aforesaid lease agreement
at the earliest practicable date in order that the airlines may commence
operations without delay creates an imperative public necessity requiring the
suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed
finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution
shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor or
Council members, having declared that such necessity exists, having requested
the suspension of the Charter rule -)and that this ordinance be passed finally
on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and
effect,fro m and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the

COUNTY OF NUECES
WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi, acting by and through its
duly authorized City Manager, R. Marvin Townsend, does hereby agree with
American Airlines, Inc., to enter into the following agreement:
1. The City hereby agrees to rent land at the Corpus Christi
International Airport to American Airlines, Inc., from date of occupancy
on a month to month basis until leases with airline tenants are executed.
The portion to be rented is•more fully described on the attached map, marked
Exhibit "A", which contains approximately 1,440 square feet.
2. American Airlines, Inc., agrees to pay a rental amount of
-5600.00 per year payable monthly in the amount of $50.00 to the Airport
Manager at his office in Nueces County, Texas.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance, a
public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter
rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on
the date it is introduced, but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read
at three meetings of the City Council; I/we, therefore, request that you suspend
said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date
it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
