A RESOLUTION
' EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO MRS. PAT
DUAINE FOR HER MANY CONTRIBUTIONS TO
,OUR COMMUNITY AND COMMENDING HER FOR.
' HER ASSISTANCE IN.THE APPREHENSION OF
A.BURGLAR SUSPECT ON JUNE 1, 1981;
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, Mrs. Patricia Duaine,
affectionately known as "Pat" has been a"valued
member of our Community for over 42 years and has
made many contributions to our City, especially in
the area of mental health',,,mentalretardation,
agnd assistance to the ,handi•capped, and;
WHEREAS, Pat has always been a
profound believer of personval-involvement in
support -of any endeavor she undertook or any cause
she fostered including respect for the law and
other peoples rights and property and;
WHEREAS, on June 1, "Pat observing two
young men attempting forceful entry'into her home
thru
rear window, notifie'd he police, then,
without thought or fear for her own personal
..safety., confronted the violators who had by then
succeeded in opening the window and upon `being
caught in the act of breaking and attempting to
.enter,,fled the scene on bicycles. 'Pat took'pursuit
in her auto and was able ,to,-curb`one of the boys a
few blocks away, and despite his physical attempts to
escape, with undaunted courage she restrained' -the
suspect (who later -'admitted to 19 other residential
burglaries). until the Police,a.r'rived an'd t-o°ok"�th'is
14 year old suspect into custody;

.NOW THEREFORE, BE IT, RESOLVED BY' -THE CITY COUNCIL

--OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,' TEXAS- THAT this act on the
,part of Patricia Duainetnot go unnoticed, and that the City
Council and the citizens of Corpus Christi take cognizance of
the efforts of this outstanding citizen; who'just two months
before; celebrated her 76th birthday, and extend to''her their
appreciation for her dedication and;-- --
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED' that this record of Pat
Duaine's act be spread .:upon the minutes of this Coun'ci'l r
Meeting and be placed in the -archive's of this.City in order, -
that -future generations may b,e,reminded
this resolution be,presentedi�to�

that such. an emergency and necessity exist, having
requested
the suspension of the Char -ter rule and that this resolution -
be passed finally on.the 'date of itsintroductionand take
effect and be ,in -full force and effect from "'and after its
passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO -RESOLVED,
