AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF TWO SUB=COMPACT SEDANS FROM
BILL GARDNER PONTIAC GMC, INC., SUBJECT TO APPROVAL BY
THE URBAN MASS TRANSPORTATION ADMINISTRATION, AS PROVIDED
IN THE 1978 UMTA CAPITAL GRANT PROJECT NO. TX -05-0036;
APPROPRIATING OUT OF THE NO. 218 TRANSIT BOND FUND FOR
PROJECT NO. 218-72-45RANSIT CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS (1978),
$11,849 FOR THE SAID PURCHASE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That authorization is hereby given, subject to approval
by the Urban Mass Transportation Administration, for the purchase of two
sub -compact sedans from Bill Gardner Pontiac GMC, Inc. for $11,849 as provided
for in the 1978 UMTA Capital Grant Project No. TX -05-0036.
SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated out of the No. 218
Transit Bond Fund for Project Ni. 218-72-4, Transit System Capital Improve-
ments (1978), the amount of $11,849 for the purchase of said sub -compact
sedans.
SECTION 3. The necessity to execute the contract and to provide
the necessary funds for the purchase of said sub -compact sedans creates an
imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule
that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its
introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three
several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor or Council members, having
declared such necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of the
Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its in-
troduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its
passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the /411,1day of July, 1981.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance, a
public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter
rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on
the date it is introduced, but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read
at three meetings of the City Council; I/we, therefore, request that you suspend
said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date
it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
