On this the 22nd day of July, 1981, the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas convened in Regular Meeting, with the following members of said Council present, to -wit: Luther Jones, Betty N. Turner, Bob Gulley, Herbert Hawkins, Jr., Dr. Charles Kennedy, Jack K. Dumphy, Cliff Zarsky, R. Marvin Townsend, J. Bruce Aycock, Harold F. Zick, Bill G. Read, Mayor, Mayor, Pro -Tem, Councilmen, City Manager, City Attorney, Director of Finance, City Secretary, with the following absent: � r� N. /owner constituting a quorum, at which time the following among other business was transacted: Jack K .1,7p9 the Council a resolution. The resolution was read by the presented for the consideration of City Secretary. The Mayor presented to the Council a com- munication in writing pertaining to said proposed resolution, as follows: "Corpus Christi, Texas k/vi 22 , 1981 "TO THE CITY COUNCIL Corpus Christi, Texas Gentlemen: "The public importance and pressing need for the per- manent improvements to be acquired by use of the proceeds of bonds contemplated to be issued pursuant to a resolution create an emergency and an imperative public necessity re- quiring the suspension of rules and Charter provisions requiring resolutions to be considered and voted upon at three regular meetings. I, therefore, request that the City Council adopt the proposed resolution authorizing the giving of notice of intention to issue bonds as an emergency measure. You will please consider this request in connection with the resolution which is to be introduced for adoption by the City Council on the subject. 46444 IIOROFiutio. The Mayor requested that the records show that he voted Aye. This was done. The Mayor announced that the resolution had been adopted. The resolution is as follows: RESOLUTION 16414' APPROVING THE FORM OF THE OFFICIAL STATEMENT PERTAINING TO CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, FIRST LIEN WATERWORKS SYSTEM REVENUE BONDS, SERIES 1981, AND AUTHORIZING, RATIFYING AND APPROVING THE OFFICIAL STATEMENT AND THE USE THEREOF IN THE OFFERING AND SALE OF SAID BONDS WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi is authorized to issue and sell its $25,000,000 First Lien Waterworks System Revenue Bonds, Series 1981 pursuant to the Constitutioyi and laws of Texas; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council that the Official Statement pertaining to said Bonds, and the use of said Official Statement should be duly authorized, ratified and approved. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: ' 1. That the Official Statement, including the Official Notice of Sale, as set forth herein is hereby approved as to form and content. 2. That the use of the Official Statement and all addenda, if any; thereto in the offering and sale of said bonds is hereby authorized, ratified and approved. 3. That the form of the Official Statement shall be substantially as follows, to -wit: ADOPTED AND APPROVED this the 22nd day of J ly, 1981. City Secretary, City of Corpus Christi, Texas (SEAL) Corpus Christi, T day of TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL Corpus Christi, Texas• , 19 For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I/we, therefore, request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
