AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT
WITH MONARCH ERECTORS, INC., FOR CONSTRUCTION OF 184
GEAR BOXES TO BE INSTALLED AT THE CORPUS CHRISTI
MUNICIPAL MARINA; APPROPRIATING $73,000 FOR CONTRACT
AWARD, OF WHICH $52,164 IS OUT OF THE NO. 291 PARK
BOND FUND (PROJECT NO. 291-77-5.4) AND $20,836 IS
OUT OF THE NO. 102 GENERAL FUND RESERVE TO BE TRANS-
FERRED TO THE NO. 291 PARK BOND FUND, OF WHICH TOTAL
AMOUNT $69,912.60 IS FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE GEAR
BOXES AND $3,087.40 IS FOR LEGAL ADVERTISING, ADDI-
TIONAL ENGINEERING, CONTINGENCIES, AND RELATED EXPEN-
SES; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized
to execute a contract with Monarch Erectors, Inc., for construction of 184
gear boxes to be installed at the Corpus Christi Municipal Marina, all as
more fully set forth in the plans and specifications and contract documents
on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part
hereof by reference and according to the bid of Monarch Erectors, Inc.,
opened on the 15th day of July, 1981, said bid being the lowest and most
advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi, Texas.
SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $73,000 for contract
award, of which $52,164 is out of the No. 291 Park Bond Fund (Project 291-
77-5.4) and $20,836 is out of the No. 102 General Fund Reserve to be trans-
ferred to the No. 291 Park Bond Fund, of which total amount $69,912.60 is
for construction of the gear boxes and $3,087.40 is for legal advertising,
additional engineering, contingencies, and related expenses.
SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for
preserving public property by executing the above contract and expediting
construction of necessary improvements, such finding of an emergency is made
and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration
and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that

emergency measure this
