HomeMy WebLinkAbout16434 ORD - 07/29/1981� r mb;7/30/,81;lst • AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 8127, AS AMENDED, BY AMENDING SECTION 700 SPECIAL COMPENSATION PROVISIONS, BY ADD- ING A NEW SUBSECTION, TO BE NUMBERED 707, TO PROVIDE FOR PAYMENT BY THE CITY OF 50% OF DEPENDENT HOSPITALI- ZATION INSURANCE FOR ALL ELIGIBLE EMPLOYEES ELECTING TO CARRY DEPENDENT COVERAGE UNDER THE CITY'S GROUP HOSPITALIZATION PROGRAM; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 8127, as amended, be amended by adding to Section 700 Special Compensation Provisions a new subsection, to be numbered 707, reading as follows: 707. The City shall pay 50% toward the cost of dependent hospitalization insurance for all eligible employees electing to carry dependent coverage under the City's group hospitalization program. Employees eligible for hospitalization insurance shall contribute $1.00 per month for such individual coverage with the City paying the remaining cost. SECTION 2. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivi- sion, clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivi- sion, clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance, for it is the definite intent of this City Council that every section, paragraph, sub- division, clause, phrase, word, or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose. SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for maintaining efficient administration of City affairs, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect u n first reading as an emergency measure this .2' day of , 1981.
