AN ORDINANCE
APPROVING THE SALE OF CORPUS CHRISTI TRANSPORTATION
COMPANY TO CORPUS CHRISTI YELLOW CABLCOMPANY, INC.;
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS; by authority of Ordinance No. 14629, passed and approved
by the City Council on November 22, 1978, a five-year franchise was granted
to Corpus Christi Transportation Company to operate taxicabs along and over
the public streets, alleys and thoroughfares of the City of Corpus Christi;
and
WHEREAS, in accordance with the terms of said franchise grant,
the said franchise and the permits held by Corpus Christi Transportation
Company may be sold, transferred and inherited, but prior approval by the
City Council must be obtained prior to any sale or transfer; and
WHEREAS, the Corpus Christi Yellow Cab Company has submitted a
request,'Jin writing to the City Council for such approval of sale:
NOW; THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That approval is hereby given for sale of the Corpus
Christi Transportation Company to the Corpus Christi Yellow Cab Company.
SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need to
approve the sale aforesaid in accordance with the terms of the existing
taxicab franchise, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring
suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances
or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and
shall te effec upon first reading as an emergency measure this J day of

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance or resolution,
an emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting
upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings; I/we, therefore, request that you
suspend said Charter rule and pass this ordinance or resolution finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
