THEREIN SO AS TO INCREASE THE WATER RATES TO PRO-
VIDE AN OVERALL INCREASE FOR CUSTOMERS USING
TREATED WATER, INCLUDING MINIMUM CHARGES, AS MORE
FULLY SET FORTH HEREINAFTER; REPEALING ALL ORDIN-
NANCFOR SEVER-
ANCE;SPROVIDINGINICT AN EFFECTIVE DATE;HEREWITH;DING AND PROVIDING
PUBLICATION.
WHEREAS, the existing water rates of the City of Corpus Christi
have been in effect since 1978; and
WHEREAS, various costs of acquiring water, transporting of water,
treatment and distribution of the same has been greatly increased since
1978; and
WHEREAS,- existing conditions have been studied by the City Council
and -the City Council has concluded that a new schedule of rates should be
adopted; and
WHEREAS, a rate increase is necessary to make the water distribu-
tion system more self -supportive:
NOW, THEREFORE, -BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS- CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That Section 55.50 of the City Code of Ordinances,
1976 Revision, as amended by Ordinance No. 14140, passed and approved
January 25, 1978,_be and the same is hereby amended by amending the first
two schedules found in Section l of said Ordinance No. 14140 under the cap-
tion TREATED WATER - REGULAR RATE, to hereinafter read as follows:

SECTION 2. That Section 55-50 of the Code of Ordinances, 1976
Revision as amended by Ordinance No. 14140, passed and approved January 25,
1978, be and the same is hereby amended by amending the first two schedules
found in Section 2 of said Ordinance No. 14140 under the caption TREATED
-MATER-- REGULAR RATE, to hereafter read a -s follows:

Treated=Water - Alternative Capacity Commodity Rate
Upon request and approval or as may be required by the City to treated
water customers who provide special metering facilities and whose water use
exceeds 2500,000 gallons --per month, the following rates shall apply:

SECTION 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith shall be and are hereby repealed to the extent of conflict herewith.
SECTION 4. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision,
clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid
or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction
it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase,
work, or provision of this ordinance, for it is the definite intent of this
City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word,
or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose.
SECTION 5. This ordinance shall be effective November 1, 1981, for
October water consumption.
SECTION 6. Publication shall be -made one time in the official
publication of the -City of Corpus Christi by publishing the caption of this
ordinance, stating in substance the_ purpose of the ordinance.
