HomeMy WebLinkAbout16468 ORD - 08/12/1981sp;8/10/81 ;1st r TEXAS: AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH J & M ROOFING COMPANY FOR REMOVAL AND REPLACE- MENT OF THE ROOF AT THE MEADOW PARK RECREATION CENTER; APPROPRIATING $15,000 OUT OF THE NO. 162 FEDERAL807.04, CODE 502 , SIXTHFUND, YEARDEPARTMENT COMMUNITYIACTIVITY DEVELOPMENT GRANT, OF WHICH $12,000 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND $3,000 IS FOR ADDITIONAL ENGINEERING, LEGAL ADVERTISING, AND CONTINGENCY EXPENSES; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to execute a contract with J & M Roofing Company for removal and replace- ment of the roof at the Meadow Park Recreation Center, all as more fully set forth in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of J & M Roofing Company opened on the 5th day of August, 1981, said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi, Texas. SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $15,000 out of the No. 162 Federal/States Grant Fund, Department 152, Activity 807.04, Code 502, Sixth Year Community Development Block Grant, of which $12,000 is for the construction contract and $3,000 is for additional engineering, legal advertising, and contingency expenses. SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for preserving public property by executing the above contract and expediting construction of necessary improvements, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consider- ation and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this day of August, 1981.
