AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT
WITH ISLES CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR CONSTRUCTION
OF THE COURTHOUSE AREA STREET IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT;
APPROPRIATING $272,000 OUT OF THE NO. 220 STREET
BOND FUND OF WHICH $254,795.50 IS FOR THE CONSTRUC-
TION CONTRACT AND $17,204.50 IS FOR ADDITIONAL
ENGINEERING, LEGAL ADVERTISING, INCIDENTAL AND RE-
LATED EXPENSES APPLICABLE TO PROJECT NO. 220-77-19,
COMANCHE, CARRIZO AND ARTESIAN STREETS; AND DECLAR-
ING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized
to execute a contract with Isles Construction Company for construction of
the Courthouse Area Street Improvements Project, all as more fully set forth
in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office
of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and
according to the bid of Isles Construction Company opened on the 8th day of
July, 1981, said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of
Corpus Christi, Texas.
SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $272,000 out of the
No. 220 Street Bond Fund of which $254,795.50 is for the construction con-
tract and $17,204.50 is for additional engineering, legal advertising,
incidental and related expenses applicable to Project No. 220-77-19,
Comanche, Carrizo and Artesian Streets.
SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to public con-
venience and necessity of the aforesaid street improvements, such finding
of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter
rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three
regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect
upon first reading as an emergency measure this day of August, 1981.

an emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting

suspend said Charter rule and pass this ordinance or resolution finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
