AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AMENDMENT
TO THE CONTRACT WITH MCCAUGHAN, ETHERIDGE & WEBB FOR
DESIGN OF EXPANSION OF THE 0. N. STEVENS WATER FIL-
TRATION PLANT, WHICH INCORPORATES THE ACTUAL CONSTRUC-
TION COST OF THE PLANT TO THE CONTRACT; APPROPRIATING
$588,000 TO SUPPLEMENT $660,000 PREVIOUSLY APPROPRIA-
TED BY ORDINANCE NO. 14974 FOR ENGINEERING FEES OUT
OF THE NO. 205 WATER SYSTEM BOND CONSTRUCTION FUND
APPLICABLE TO PROJECT NO. 205-81-1, 0. N. STEVENS
WATER FILTRATION PLANT EXPANSION; AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized
to execute an amendment to the contract with McCaughan, Etheridge & Webb for
the design of expansion of the 0. N. Stevens Water Filtration Plant, which
incorporates the actual construction cost of the plant to the contract.
SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $588,000 to supple-
ment $660,000 previously appropriated by Ordinance No. 14974 for engineering
fees out of the No. 205 Water System Bond Construction Fund applicable to
Project No. 205-81-1, 0. N. Stevens Water Filtration Plant Expansion.
SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the public
necessity of executing the aforesaid amendment, such finding of an emergency
is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consid-
eration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings
so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first reading
as an emergency measure this 9 day of September, 1981.

The City of Corpus Christi and McCaughan, Etheridge & Webb, Consulting
Engineers, hereby agree to the following amendment to the contract for
engineering services regarding the expansion of the 0. N. Stevens Water Treat-
ment Plant which was authorized by the City of Corpus Christi, on July 3, 1979,
by the passage of Ordinance No. 14974:
4. COST OF THE PROJECT - PRELIMINARY ESTIMATE
The original estimated cost of construction is hereby revised to reflect an
actual construction cost of $20,799,000.
6. ENGINEERING FEES FOR PHASES A, B, AND C
The total engineering fee for the Preliminary Phase (15%), the Design Phase
(65%) and the Construction Phase (20%) will be six (6%) percent of $20,799,000
or $1,247,940.
All other terms and conditions of the original agreement shall remain
in full force and effect.
EXECUTED IN DUPLICATE, each of which shall be considered an original,

the contract, agreement, obligation or expenditures contemplated in the above
and foregoing ordinance is in the Treasury of the City of Corpus Christi to the

an emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting

suspend said Charter rule and pass this ordinance or resolution finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
