AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT
WITH KING CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR IMPROVEMENTS TO
SWANTNER PARK; APPROPRIATING $122,000 OUT OF THE
NO. 291 PARK BOND FUND OF WHICH $110,749 IS FOR THE
CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND $11,251 IS FOR ADDITIONAL
ENGINEERING, CONTINGENCIES AND INCIDENTAL EXPENSES
APPLICABLE TO PROJECT NO. 291-77-3.1, SWANTNER PARK
IMPROVEMENTS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized
to execute a contract with King Construction Company for improvements to
Swantner Park, all as more fully set forth in the plans and specifications
and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of
which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of King
Construction Company opened on the 2d Day of September, 1981, said bid beinn
the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi, Texas.
SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $122,000 out of the
No. 291 Park Bond Fund of which $110,749 is for the construction contract and
$11,251 is for additional engineering, contingencies and incidental expenses
applicable to Project No. 291-77-3.1, Swantner Park Improvements.
SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the public
necessity of the improvements to Swantner Park, such finding of an emergency
is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consider-
ation and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so
that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an
emergency measure this � day of September, 1981.

introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
