AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS, VOLUME II, CHAPTER 55, UTILITIES ARTICLE IV, GAS
RATES AND CHARGES, SECTION 55-61 CLASSIFICATION OF CUS-
TOMERS AND SCHEDULES OF RATES, AS AMENDED BY ORDINANCE
NO. 16451, SO AS TO ADD AFTER THE SCHEDULE OF GAS RATES
A PROVISION THAT PURCHASES OF MORE THAN ONE MILLION I
CUBIC FEET OF GAS PER MONTH SHALL BE BILLED AT THE IN-
SIDE CITY LIMITS RATE, AS MORE FULLY SET FORTH HEREIN.
SECTION 1. That Section 55-61 of the City Code of Ordinances,
1976 Revision, as amended, and particularly as amended by Ordinance No.
16451, passed and approved August 12, 1981, be amended by adding after the
list of General Customer Rates the following: "All purchases of more than
one million cubic feet of gas per month, whether outside city limits or in-
side city limits, shall be billed at the inside city limits rate.
SECTION 2. Except as hereby and herein amended, the provisions,
terms and conditions of Ordinance No. 16451 shall remain in full force and
effect.
SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for
efficient administration of City affairs by amending the Code of Ordinances
as hereinabove set forth, such finding of an emergency is made and declared
requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon
ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance
is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure
this the 7th day of October, 1981.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance, a
public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter
rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on
the date it is introduced, but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read
at three meetings of the City Council; I/we, therefore, request that you suspend
said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date
it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
