HomeMy WebLinkAbout16603 ORD - 10/14/1981sp;1O/14/81;lst AN ORDINANCE REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 16443 WHICH APPROVED THE SALE OF CORPUS CHRISTI TRANSPORTATION COMPANY TO CORPUS CHRISTI YELLOW CAB COMPANY, INC.; APPROVING THE SALE OF CORPUS CHRISTI TRANSPORTATION COMPANY TO BELL CAB COMPANY, INC.; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. /463oP WHEREAS, by authority of Ordinance No. 146.M., passed and approved by the City Council on November 22, 1978, a five-year franchise was grante4 to Corpus Christi Transportation Company to operate taxicabs along and over the public streets, alleys and thoroughfares of the City of Corpus Christi; 1 and WHEREAS, in accordance with the terms of said franchise grant, the said franchise and the permits held by Corpus Christi Transportation Company may be sold, transferred and inherited, but prior approval by the City Council must be obtained prior to any sale or transfer; and WHEREAS, Corpus Christi Yellow Cab Company submitted a written request to the City Council for its approval of the sale of Corpus Christi Transportation Company to Corpus Christi Yellow Cab Company, Inc., pursuant to Corpus Christi Tray y.rtation Company's franchise agreement set forth in 146 3m Ordinance No. }46i?9; and WHEREAS, the City Council has been informed by the parties to the proposed sale that the proposed sale will not occur; and WHEREAS, Bell Cab Company has submitted a request in writing to the City Council for such approval of sale: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 16443, passed and approved by the City Council on August 5, 1981, be and is hereby repealed in its entirety. SECTION 2. That approval is hereby given for sale of the Corpus Christi Transportation Company to Bell Cab Company. SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need of approving the sale of Corpus Christi Transportation Company to Bell Cab Company so that the sale can be consummated as soon as possible, such finding SEP 2 71984 6��3 MICROFILMED of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resoltuions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and sha 1 take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the / day of October, 1981.
