ORTIZ ASPHALT PAVING FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A CONCRETE SLAB NECESSARY FOR INSTALLATION OF A BUS WASHER AT THE CORPUS CHRISTI TRANSIT FACILITY; APPROPRIATING $51,000 OUT OF THE NO. 218 TRANSIT FUND, OF WHICH $48,139 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND $2,861 IS FOR ADDITIONAL ENGINEERING, LEGAL ADVERTISING AND CONTINGENCY EXPENSES, APPLI- CABLE TO PROJECT NO. 218-72-2, TRANSIT SYSTEM CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be authorized to execute a contract with A. Ortiz Asphalt Paving for the construction of a concrete slab necessary for installation of a bus washer at the Corpus Christi Transit Facility, all as more fully set forth in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of A. Ortiz Asphalt Paving opened on the 21st day of October, 1981, said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi, Texas. SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated the sum of $51,000 out of the No. 218 Transit Fund, of which $48,139 is for the construction contract and $2,861 is for additional engineering, legal advertising and contingency expenses, applicable to Project No. 218-72-2, Transit System Capital Improvements. SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for preserving public property by executing the above contract and expediting construction of necessary improvements, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is pa sed and s measure this day of ATTEST: take effect upon first reading as an emergency , 1981. rt� y Secretaryqq�� MAYS° APPROVED: L}k DAY OFIj/4 4L.,. 07 ,1981: J.
