AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH
CASEY & GLASS, INC. FOR BUILDING AND SITE RENOVATIONS TO
THE BEN GARZA AND T.C. AYERS PARK BUILDING; APPROPRIATING
$315,000 OUT OF THE NO. 291 PARK BOND FUND OF WHICH
$297,800 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT, $6,072 IS FOR
ADDITIONAL ARCHITECTURAL FEES, AND $26,128 IS FOR CONSTRUC-
TION INSPECTION, LEGAL ADVERTISING, INCIDENTAL AND CONTIN-
GENCY EXPENSES, APPLICABLE TO PROJECT NO. 291-77-4.11, BEN
GARZA AND T.C. AYERS REHABILITATION; AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized
to execute a contract with Casey & Glass, Inc., for building and site renova-
tions to the Ben Garza and T.C. Ayers Park Buildings all as more fully set
forth in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the
office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by refer-
ence and according to the bid of Casey & Glass, Inc., opened on the 21st
day of October, 1981, said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the
City of Corpus Christi, Texas.
SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated the sum of $315,000
out of the No. 291 Park Bond Fund of which $297,800 is for
contract, $6,072 is for additional architectural fees and
construction inspection, legal advertising, incidental and
expenses, applicable to Project No. 291-77-4.11, Ben Garza
habilitation.
SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for
preserving public property by executing the above contract and expediting
construction of necessary improvements, such finding of an emergency is made
and declared requiring supension of the Charter rule as to consideration

and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so
that this ordinance is passed as shall tak' - fect upon first reading
as an emergency measure this day of /i„ 1981.

an emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting

suspend said Charter rule and pass this ordinance or resolution finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
