HomeMy WebLinkAbout16675 ORD - 11/04/1981r AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH H & H CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, INC., FOR CONSTRUC- TION OF THE VAN GALEN DRAINAGE SYSTEM, PHASE III; APPROPRI- ATING $162,000 OUT OF THE NO. 295 STORM SEWER BOND FUND, OF WHICH AMOUNT $153,630 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND $8,370 IS FOR ADDITIONAL ENGINEERING, LABORATORY TEST- ING, LEGAL ADVERTISING, AND CONTINGENCIES APPLICABLE TO PROJECT NO. 295-77-4, VAN GALEN DITCH EXTENSION; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to execute a contract with H & H Concrete Construction Company, Inc., for construction of the Van Galen Ditch System, Phase III, all as more fully set forth in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of H & H Concrete on the 21st day of October, 1981, said bid to the City of Corpus Christi, Texas. SECTION 2. That there is hereby Construction Company, Inc., opened being the lowest and most advantageous appropriated $162,000 out of the No. 295 Storm Sewer Bond Fund of which $153,630 is for the construction con- tract and $8,370 is for additional engineering, laboratory testing, legal advertising, and contingencies applicable to Project No. 295-77-4, Van Galen Ditch Extension. SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need of public necessity of proceeding with the Van Galen Ditch Extension Project in a timely manner, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the 4th day of November, 1981.
