A RESOLUTION
AUTHORIZING THE COASTAL BEND COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS
AND THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH TO PURCHASE ON
BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, AMBULANCE EQUIP-
MENT FOR ITS EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES THROUGH A CON-
TRACT BETWEEN THE COASTAL BEND COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS
AND THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH THROUGH BIDDING
AND PURCHASING PROCEDURES OF THE STATE PURCHASING AND
GENERAL SERVICES COMMISSION.
WHEREAS, the Coastal Bend Council of Governments, under a grant
award of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to the Texas
Department of Health, has been awarded funding to purchase ambulance equip-
ment for Emergency Medical Services; and
WHEREAS, the grant award and the approved plan provide for pay-
ment of up to 75 percent of the costs for purchase of ambulance equipment
as specified on the attached equipment listing; and
WHEREAS, the purchase of equipment under the grant award is to
be through the bidding and purchasing procedures of the State Purchasing and
General Services Commission; and
WHEREAS, the 25 percent local matching requirement of the grant
award requires the escrow of matching funds from participating local juris-
dictions at the time of placing the equipment on order.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City of Corpus Christi hereby authorizes the
Coastal Bend Council of Governments and the Texas Department of Health to
purchase on its behalf the equipment listed as an attachment to this resolu-
tion through the contract referred to above at a total cost of $17,168. The
City of Corpus Christi agrees to contribute 25 percent of this cost and a
check in the amount of $4,292 is forwarded with this resolution.
SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need of
preserving public health by providing ambulance equipment as soon as possible,
such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the
Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at

three regular meetings so that this resolution is passed and shall take effect
upon first reading as an emergency measure this the // day of November,
1981.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance or resolution,
an emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting
upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings; I/we, therefore, request that you
suspend said Charter rule and pass this ordinance or resolution finally on the date it is,
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
